Bridges hit by late winner AGAIN

Yet another late goal against cost Bridges a point in their final game of the season, and it was similar to the other two goals in this game in that none will be pushing for a place in any Goal of the Season awards.

All three goals were scored from no more than a yard out, Burgess Hill opening the scoring after ten minutes when Thomas Chalaye stabbed home after Mitch Bromage, who argued with the referee as he thought he’d been fouled, could not hold onto a cross from the right.

Dan Perry almost produced a swift equaliser, but William Huffer made a good block before Perry put the rebound wide.

The game wasn’t helped by a strong wind that favoured the Hillians in the first half and then gave Bridges an edge in the second half. But Pat Harding did produce an excellent volley which Mitch Bromage saved well, and he also denied Josh Spink when the visiting skipper broke free.

But after 79 minutes a cross was headed goalwards by Tad Bromage before the ball fell to the predatory Dan Perry to nudge over the line.

Mitch Bromage made another good save from Lewis Finney, but Bridges continued to press for a winner. But in the ninetieth minute, a mix up in the home defence saw the ball bouncing around the area before Max Miller managed to get the last touch despite the brave efforts of Mitch Bromage.
