Minute Woe For Bridges

Yet again, Bridges couldn’t quite hold onto a lead as visiting AFC Croydon, making their second visit to Lancing in five days, levelled in the 90th minute to deny Bridges their first League win of the season.

Bridges might count themselves as unfortunate, although the visitors looked dangerous themselves after an early free kick by Hayden Velvick had been well held by Amadou Tangara. Kadeel Daniel looked particularly dangerous with a curling effort that struck the far post and another good strike that Luke Glover did well to punch clear. It was notably unfortunate that Daniel had to leave the proceedings just before half time with an injury.

But the biggest hurdle that Bridges had to overcome, apart from some indifferent finishing of their own, was the commanding goalkeeping display of Tangara in the Croydon goal. He had no chance when Bridges took a 57th minute lead, Reece Hallard’s cross from the right being met and cleverly finished by NORDIBEK BOBOMURODOV. But, after that, he was a constant thorn in Bridges’ side with plenty of positive interventions and a notable double save to deny Adam Adam five minutes from time.

Adam was also just wide after being set up by Kevin Rivera, who was also just over after what looked to be a good tip over by Tangara which was missed by the officials. Velvick was also just wide after a good run, but this failure to wrap up proceedings cost Bridges as time was running out when a swift counter attack on the right ended with a low cross inside which was met by BRANDON PIERRICK to leave many Bridges players looking totally distraught at the final whistle.
